Outdoor learning 🎃

This week for outdoor learning we linking our activities to our whole school topic of celebrations. We enjoyed making roti over the fire which is a popular Indian food prepared for Diwali. This was a hit with the children and staff 😀

We had a ‘dancing corn’ STEM activity.

We enjoyed some festive pumpkin decorating and carving.

The children all did an incredible job of identifying tree’s and using data handling to record their findings. They used tally marks to make bar graphs to demonstrate their knowledge in data handling.

Another fantastic week of outdoor learning! 🌲

Term 2 Week 1

Welcome to Term 2.

This week, we have been finding out about the festival of Divali and the children have been creating Rangoli patterns, linking this to symmetry. We have also been learning about the properties of 3D and 2D shape in maths.

We have finished out Ritchie Collins inspired artwork and are really pleased with the results.

We hope you like them too!

October is also Black History Month and we have been learning about some of the key figures such as Rosa Parks and Harriet Tubman.

We have loved doing some shared writing together as a class, the children are able to work together collaboratively to come up with some fantastic ideas for short story writing. We have focussed on fronted adverbials as well as adjectives, nouns and conjunctions to be present in our writing. Using just five sentences and coming together as a class has helped us zone in on these particular areas to make sure when we go to write independently we are incorporating them. 📝

Academy 9

I am super proud of our P5 pupils today who travelled to Grantown Grammar. During their visit they worked alongside pupils from a variety of schools to solve problems, learn new skills and develop their knowledge and understanding of the A9 dualling process and the jobs involved.

They were polite, kind and encouraging to their team mates and worked successfully in a group. Well done!
